POLICE are continuing their search for the prime suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man whose body was discovered with 12 stab wounds inside an apartment unit in Mantin on Dec 30.

Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said investigators are appealing to members of the public who may have information related to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing probe.

“Two of the victim’s housemates, aged 50 and 51, whose remand period ended today, have been released on police bail following instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor,” he said when contacted on Monday.

“Preliminary investigations found that they were not involved in the incident. However, further inquiries are still being carried out,” Johari added.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Earlier reports said police were searching for a main suspect believed to have visited the apartment complex prior to the killing to ask about the victim’s residence.

Closed-circuit television footage from the entrance of the apartment complex on Dec 28 reportedly showed a man wearing a face mask and a hooded sweatshirt covering his head entering the premises, raising suspicions that he may be linked to the case. - January 12, 2026
