Police have refuted claims that individuals are impersonating officers in the Kuala Kangsar district, as alleged in a video uploaded on TikTok earlier today (June 28).

According to ACP Heisham Harun, the Kuala Kangsar district police chief, an investigation revealed that the video, shared by an individual, consisted of a series of short clips. "The video was created by the owner of the TikTok account 'Harima Kawa' and was uploaded by a friend on the same platform," he clarified. "There have been no incidents of people impersonating police officers as claimed by various parties," he added in an official statement on June 28.

Heisham emphasized the importance of responsible sharing of information, particularly on social media. He urged the public to exercise caution and verify the accuracy of any information before disseminating it, as spreading false information can cause unnecessary panic and confusion.

The police chief's statement comes in response to the viral video, which had sparked concerns and speculation among the local community. The video, depicting what appeared to be individuals dressed as police officers, led some viewers to believe that there was a significant issue with police impersonation in the area.

However, the investigation confirmed that the video was not evidence of any real incidents but rather a creative project by the TikTok user "Harima Kawa." The police have reiterated that there have been no reported cases of police impersonation in the Kuala Kangsar district.

Heisham's statement serves as a reminder of the potential impact of social media on public perception and the importance of ensuring that information shared online is accurate and verified. The police are committed to maintaining public safety and trust and are taking steps to monitor and address any misinformation that may arise.

In light of this incident, the police have called on social media users to think critically about the content they encounter and to refrain from spreading unverified claims. The authorities will continue to keep the public informed and address any concerns promptly.
