KUNAK: Police have not received any report of a masked gang breaking into a house in a village in Madai, Kunak, as claimed in posts circulating on social media since Saturday.
District police chief Supt Rejali Angong said police had not received any report related to the alleged incident circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp.
He said no such incident occurred as claimed in a post uploaded on a Facebook page that had gone viral.
The post showed two masked men wearing jackets climbing the stairs of a house said to be located in the Madai area of Kunak, with the caption stating that a masked house break-in and robbery had been reported there.
Rejali said the image circulating on social media could possibly have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
