RANAU: Police have detained a 34-year-old permanent resident to assist in an investigation into an alleged rape involving his 13-year-old biological daughter at their home in the district.
Ranau District Police Chief Supt Mursalin Mahmud said the alleged incident occurred while the girl was staying with her father and stepmother, who was away in Labuan at the time.
He said the suspect allegedly entered the girl’s bedroom and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
Mursalin said the suspect was detained last night following a report lodged by the victim’s aunt, and the case was being investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
He urged the public to provide information on suspected criminal activities to the police, adding that those with relevant information could contact the Ranau District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 088-875222, with informants’ identities kept confidential.
