RANAU: Police are warning residents about investment scams promising high returns with little or no risk, saying most involve unlicensed schemes that pressure victims through fake endorsements, urgent offers and Ponzi-style recruitment.

The public is urged to invest only with licensed parties and verify offers through SC, BNM and Semak Mule alert platforms.

Authorities also highlighted a rising “3-corner” vehicle sale scam, where fraudsters pose as middlemen, collect payment from buyers and vanish, leaving sellers unpaid.

Buyers are advised to deal directly with the real owner, match identification with vehicle documents, avoid third-party payments and complete transfers together at the JPJ.
