SEVERAL suspects involved in a violent altercation between two groups of men at a nasi kandar restaurant in Bangsar last Thursday have been identified by police, according to Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood.
Speaking on Tuesday, Ku Mashariman confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with police reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene to aid in tracking down those involved.
“We have identified and are currently locating the suspects involved in this case. No arrests have been made so far,” he said.
The fight, which took place around 5.40am, involved approximately eight to ten men and resulted in damages exceeding RM5,000. Reports indicated that the incident escalated after a woman from one group was allegedly harassed by members of the other.
The restaurant suffered substantial property damage, including broken glass at the food counter, damage to several dining tables, and a shattered decorative Quranic display on the wall.
Ku Mashariman also revealed that some customers fled the restaurant in fear during the incident, leaving behind unpaid food bills amounting to RM1,000.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 and Section 427 of the Penal Code, which pertain to rioting and mischief causing damage, respectively. - April 29, 2025
