MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) placed under its custody the driver of a car where a male student landed after he fell from the platform of a Light Rail Transit (LRT-1) station on Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, QCPD director, on Thursday also said that a thorough investigation was ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We assure the public that all aspects of the case will be carefully examined to provide clarity and justice for the victim and his family,” Silvio said.

Citing an initial investigation, the QCPD chief said a witness saw the 23-year-old victim fall to the ground from the platform area of the FPJ LRT-1 station and was on the path of a moving MG car driven by a certain "Albert," reportedly from Antipolo, Rizal and a mechanical engineer.

The victim sustained injuries and was declared dead at the scene, the QCPD said.

Meanwhile, the car was travelling along EDSA northbound toward Balintawak past 10 a.m. on Wednesday, police said.

A statement from the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) said the victim jumped from the station’s platform and landed on a car along EDSA.

The LRMC, which operates the LRT-1, said it was cooperating with the QCPD in its investigation.
