Selangor police are tracking motorcyclists who threw firecrackers at JPJ personnel during a traffic operation in Rawang last Saturday.

RAWANG: Police are tracking a group of motorcyclists for allegedly throwing firecrackers at Road Transport Department (JPJ) personnel during an enforcement operation.

Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the incident occurred near the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR) and Tasik Puteri area last Saturday at about 10 pm.

The case is being investigated under Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957 for causing an explosion that could endanger life or property.

JPJ personnel had stopped a motorcycle after finding the rider and pillion rider were not wearing helmets and had committed other offences.

While issuing notices, a group of 20 to 30 other motorcyclists allegedly threw firecrackers at the enforcement officers.

“Those with information on the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation,” Shazeli said.
