
SEMPORNA: A married couple was among six people detained on suspicion of drug trafficking involving 329.21 kilograms of syabu following two operations in Semporna and Tawau on July 12 and 13.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said police have also launched a manhunt for a 46-year-old man identified as Cheong Min Ken, believed to be the mastermind behind the Semporna case.
Speaking at a press conference at the Semporna district police headquarters on Monday, Jauteh said all the suspects, aged between 25 and 47, tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal records.
He added that police also seized RM12,674 in cash, a gold ring worth RM2,400, and a gold necklace worth RM7,300. The seized drugs are valued at an estimated RM12 million.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
