Police track four suspects after a viral video shows cable theft from a manhole along MRR2 in Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking four men suspected of stealing cables along the side of the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) here after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said police detected a viral video at about 5 pm yesterday showing several individuals believed to be stealing cables from a manhole along the highway.

“We received a report on the incident from a local man last Thursday, who stated that at about 1.30 pm, he stopped his vehicle by the roadside and noticed a grey Honda Odyssey bearing a false registration number at the location,” he said in a statement today.

Khairul Anuar said the complainant managed to record the incident before lodging the report and the case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code and Section 235 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
