POLICE are actively searching for a man suspected of secretly filming a 29-year-old saleswoman in a women’s toilet at Mayang Mall on Thursday evening.
District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the incident occurred at 6.12pm when the victim noticed a mobile phone protruding from under the cubicle door.
She immediately exited the stall and confronted an unknown man holding the device, who then fled the scene.
“The suspect is believed to be a man in his early 20s with blonde hair, wearing a white T-shirt featuring Ultraman with the words “Aku Kuat Aku Ultraman” (‘“I am Strong, I am Ultraman”) and dark jeans, carrying a sling bag,” Azli said.
He added that the victim managed to capture visual footage of the suspect from behind as he ran away.
“CCTV footage from the mall shows the suspect fleeing through the main entrance, heading towards Dataran Shahbandar,” he confirmed.
Police are analysing the full CCTV recordings and appealing to witnesses near the location to assist with the investigation.
The case is being probed under Sections 448 and 509 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass and acts intended to insult the modesty of a person, both of which carry potential imprisonment and fines.
“Law enforcement takes breaches of private spaces and acts that demean individuals in public very seriously. Members of the public with information about the suspect are urged to contact the Kuala Terengganu District Police Operations Room at 09-6322222 or any nearby police station,” he said. - November 22, 2025
