Authorities search for a Pakistani man who escaped from Sungai Buloh Prison while under remand for child sexual offences.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are searching for a Pakistani man who escaped from Sungai Buloh Prison yesterday.

The escapee, 24-year-old Muhammad Hassan, was in custody for child sexual offences.

He was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black long pants, according to Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor.

Hassan was being held on remand for investigation under multiple laws.

These include Sections 377C and 392 of the Penal Code and the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

“The public is advised to stay vigilant. This inmate is charged with sexual offences against children,” Hafiz said in a statement.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer or the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters.

Hafiz also cautioned the public against spreading unverified information that could hinder the police operation.
