
ADGP Mamta Singh, Commissioner of Police, on Wednesday issued strict directions to arms license holders as well as gun house operators in the district to ensure the monitoring and reporting of licensed firearms. The directions aim to increase transparency and strengthen law and order in the district.
The orders have been implemented in compliance with instructions from the Haryana Home Department. According to available information, there are approximately 6,355 licensed weapons in the district under the jurisdiction of a total of 15 police stations.
The maximum number of licensed firearms, 737, are under the jurisdiction of the Kharkhoda police station area, followed by 672 in the Sadar Gohana area and 667 licensed arms under the Sonepat City police station area. Based on the data, there are 611 licensed weapons in the area under the Gannaur police station; 127 licensed weapons in HSIIDC Barhi police station; 210 licensed weapons in Murthal area; 216 in Bahalgarh police station area; 154 licensed weapons in Rai; 331 in the area under Kundli; 416 under the Civil Lines police station area; 384 in the Sector 27 police station area; 543 in the Sadar police station area; 230 in the Mohana police station area; 570 licensed weapons in the Gohana City police station area, while 478 licensed weapons are carried by residents in the area under the Baroda police station’s jurisdiction.
ADGP Mamta Singh directed that any licensed firearm holder must report the use of their weapon within 30 days to the concerned licensing authority. The report must include complete details such as the date, location, purpose of use, and the number of cartridges fired. Additionally, license holders are required to deposit all used (empty) cartridges with the licensing authority after using their weapon. If, for any reason, the cartridges are unavailable, a written explanation must be submitted.
ADGP Mamta Singh stated that failure to provide timely or accurate information could lead to serious consequences, including complications in license renewal, suspension, or cancellation of the arms license. The Commissioner further directed gun house operators to inform their customers about these regulations and also instructed them to display notices prominently at their gun houses.
The Commissioner also appealed to the residents in the district to obey the rules so that the security system in the society should be strengthened.
