THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have confirmed they are investigating claims of document forgery involving seven heritage players of the Harimau Malaya national football team.
Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa Director stated that the probe follows a police report filed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) yesterday.
An investigation file has been opened under Section 468 of the Penal Code, which pertains to forgery, to allow further action regarding the matter.
“The investigation file has been opened, and so far, only two statements have been recorded,” he said briefly today.
Media reports yesterday indicated that FAM had lodged a police report at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters concerning the alleged document forgery involving the seven Harimau Malaya players.
Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, FAM’s Acting President, explained that the action was in line with recommendations from the Independent Inquiry Committee (IIC), chaired by former Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif, following the committee’s recent completion of their investigation.
He emphasised FAM’s commitment to cooperating fully with the Royal Malaysia Police and respecting the ongoing legal process.
