POLICE have launched an investigation into the death of a seven-month-old infant at a nursery in Taman Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur, following a report lodged by the child’s father on the same day of the incident.

According to Wangsa Maju Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Syahrul Anuar Abdul Wahab, the report was filed at Setapak Police Station at approximately 1.26pm.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the incident occurred between 9am and 11am,” he said in an official statement released today.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which pertains to neglect, abuse, or exposure of a child to risk of physical or emotional harm.

Superintendent Syahrul confirmed that the case is being handled by officers from the Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters to determine the exact cause of death.

It is understood that a post-mortem examination was conducted on the infant yesterday. Further details are expected upon completion of the forensic analysis. - May 28, 2025
