Police investigate RM1.8 million heist at home of Dr Mahathir’s grandchild

POLICE are examining CCTV footage as part of their investigation into a burglary at the Bukit Ledang residence of a grandchild of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in which RM1.8 million worth of jewellery was reported stolen.

Acting Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan, confirmed to Bernama that the case remains under active investigation.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation and, as of yesterday, no suspects have been identified. CCTV footage from the property is currently being analysed,” he said.

The burglary was discovered at approximately 3pm on Wednesday by a domestic worker, who noticed that the back gate had been cut open and the bedroom had been ransacked.

Datuk Mohamed Usuf earlier confirmed that the stolen items included high-value jewellery kept inside the home.

Police have yet to make any arrests and have indicated that updates will follow as enquiries progress. - July 26, 2025
