Police are probing viral social media claims of injuries from a custom ‘ball firecracker’ experiment in Tobiar, Pendang, with victims reportedly treated at hospital.
PENDANG: Police are investigating viral claims that several individuals were injured by a custom ‘mercun bola’ or ball firecracker in Tobiar.
Pendang police chief Supt Rodzi Abu Hassan said the incident is believed to have occurred on Aidilfitri eve.
He confirmed that victims were reportedly taken to the Emergency Department of Pendang Hospital for treatment.
“So far, no report has been lodged by the hospital or any other party,” Rodzi said when contacted.
He added that police will visit the hospital to obtain full details regarding the incident.
Based on the initial information gathered, a police report will then be filed to facilitate a full investigation.
The case gained attention after photos of injured individuals circulated on Facebook.
A post accompanying the images claimed a ‘tragedy involving bomb expert from Tobiar’ during a ‘custom ball firecracker experiment’, stating seven victims were ‘celebrating Aidilfitri in hospital’.
Further information on the case will be announced by police at a later time.
