Police Investigating 'Geng Budak Sekolah' for sale of obscene materials involving minors

THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have launched a full investigation into the existence and activities of a group known as ‘Geng Budak Sekolah (School Children Gang), amid allegations of its involvement in the sale of obscene materials online involving children as young as 12.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that the case is being handled by the Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11), and that police are working meticulously to determine whether the children were acting alone or under the influence of an adult figure.

“At this time, we have not yet established whether there is a mastermind behind this. If there is, I will inform the public,” he said, speaking at the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 celebration in conjunction with the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.

The minister stressed that the complexity of the case requires particular care and attention due to the age of the individuals involved, noting that some had even abandoned school in pursuit of income through such activities.

“This case is complicated. We must consider their age, their level of thinking, and what could have driven them to leave their education to make money,” he said.

Saifuddin also drew parallels between the case and the modus operandi seen in previous 'swinger' activity that had previously been exposed, indicating a possible pattern in the exploitation of vulnerable individuals for sexual content production and distribution.
