POLICE have completed their investigation into an assault at a boarding secondary school in Sungai Petani, which left a 16-year-old male student unconscious, and are now awaiting further instructions from the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) for potential legal action.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Han Yan, confirmed that the student who was previously remanded has been released on police bail.
“The investigation papers have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor and we are awaiting the next course of action,” he said.
He added, “We have completed the investigation from all angles, including statements from the victim, witnesses, and suspects. The case file has been referred to the prosecution for further action.”
The incident, which occurred on 24 November, involved the victim allegedly being beaten by a group of students inside the school dormitory after an alleged dispute over remarks made about one of the suspects.
The assault caused bruising to the student’s abdomen and required medical attention. Four students were detained to assist in the investigation.
One, aged 16, was remanded for three days, while the other three, aged between 16 and 17, were released after their remand applications were denied.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 and Section 507 of the Penal Code. - November 30, 2025
