- “We are working hard to follow up a number of lines of enquiry to identify the three women and understand exactly what has happened,” Sussex Police said in a statement released on Wednesday evening. Sussex police also confirmed the beach had reopened to the public.
- The bodies of three young women, believed to be aged between 20 and 30, were recovered from the sea off Brighton near Madeira Drive on Wednesday morning.
- Emergency services were alerted at approximately 5.45am after concerns were raised for the women's welfare, leading to their bodies being pulled from the water. Chief Superintendent Adam Hays confirmed that an extensive search of the water by the coastguard is underway, though authorities are not currently looking for any other individuals.
