POLICE in Johor have launched a manhunt for a suspect who fired a gun during an attempted robbery at a commercial premises in Taman Megah Ria, Seri Alam, on Friday evening.
According to Seri Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, the incident occurred at approximately 7.10pm.
“The suspect entered the premises and pointed an object resembling a pistol at the victim, demanding cash,” he said in a statement.
“He then fired a single shot outside the premises before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.”
No one was injured in the incident, and police are working to confirm the suspect’s identity.
The case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which provides for enhanced punishments for the use of firearms in the commission of offences.
Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward by contacting the Seri Alam District Control Centre at 07-3871422 or via the hotline at 07-38614222, or by visiting the nearest police station.
