POLICE have opened an investigation paper into an online news portal suspected of publishing a false report claiming the discovery of the body of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh in a house in Petaling Jaya — a report which has since gone viral across social media.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that a police report has been lodged and that the case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“We will summon those involved to have their statements recorded,” he said when contacted today.
Yesterday, police confirmed that the viral article published by the portal under the headline “Police Interview Pamela Ling’s Children and Family Friend in Death Investigation” was false.
Hussein emphasised that the Selangor police have not received any report regarding the alleged discovery of a body in Petaling Jaya, contrary to the claims made in the widely circulated article.
Pamela Ling, 42, was reported missing on 9 April while reportedly en route to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya via an e-hailing service. A missing persons report was filed at 3.02pm the same day. - May 20, 2025
