MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it was monitoring the health of detained Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, a day after he was moved to a hospital after he complained of chest pains following his arrest for plunder
The Health Service of the PNP said in it's report that there was an “ongoing health monitoring and evaluation on the patient’s concern.”
Marcoleta was also said to have undergone fasting last night for his laboratory tests this morning.
Thereafter, test results will be assessed to determine future possible procedures to be done and to make sure he can stand trial.
Also arrested by virtue of a warrant from the Sandiganbayan were former congressman Mike Defensor and businessmen Aristotle Viray and Joseph Espiritu involving their P75 million donation to Marcoleta's then senatorial campaign kitty and which the legislator failed to disclose before the Commission o. Elections (Comelec).
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said government doctors’ full check on Marcoleta might take two days given that the lawmaker was already 72 years old.
He was subjected to standard booking procedures at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Monday where his mugshot was taken.
