PETALING JAYA: A police officer was one of seven people detained for processing ketum juice following a raid in Cheras, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said today.
“During the raid, we detained seven individuals, one of whom is a police officer. The other six are foreign nationals.
Two investigation papers have been opened: one under the Poisons Act 1952 and another under the Immigration Act 1959/63,
Hussein said in a press conference today without specifying the offences.

Read more According to a police source, officers raided a unit at police quarters somewhere in Cheras late Monday evening, but Hussein could not confirm this information.
Hussein also declined to comment on whether the officer was using his living quarters to process ketum or distribute, only saying that this was one part of the case still under investigation.
We are still investigating whether the place was used to process or to distribute, but at this moment I cannot confirm anything, he said.
Hussein added that the suspects have been remanded pending further investigation, with the foreign nationals to be held for up to 14 days.
