
PETALING JAYA: Two police officers busy partying at a nightclub in Damansara Intan here were caught with a bagful of cash by federal police early this morning.
The federal police Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) had conducted checks at the nightclub cum karaoke centre at about 12.15am and found over 60 people, about half of them women entertaining themselves to loud music and alcoholic drinks.
Sources said the raiding party then inspected a private karaoke room where an assistant superintendent (ASP) and an inspector were found with two women in their early 30’s.
On searching further, the JIPS team also found almost RM50,000 in a sling bag belonging to one of the officers.
The team also found bottles of alcoholic drinks on a table at the private room.
The detained officers who are attached to district police here and Bukit Aman tested negative for drug abuse.
JIPS officers have recorded statements from the officers and are trying to ascertain where they had obtained the seized cash.
It is learnt that among those at the nightclub that has a valid operating licence were two women from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed is expected to issue a statement on the case later today.
