SANDAKAN: Police opened fire at an escaping vehicle of a suspected drug trafficker in Sandakan which went viral today.

An anti-narcotics team tried to stop the trafficker’s Kenari from leaving the parking lot of PPR Sungai Manila as the car aggressively got away despite a shot fired at the car’s tyre in an attempt to halt it, police said.

Later, police detected and seized the car on a roadside 2km away from the flats but the suspect had fled.

A 30-second clip of the dramatic escape at the flats' parking lot went viral.

Those with information are requested to contact investigating officer ASP R Jas Dewd at 013-3598455.
