PENAMPANG: Police are investigating an alleged assault involving a girl believed to be a secondary school student here after claims about the incident went viral on social media today.
The claims, which were widely shared on Facebook, alleged that the victim had been attacked, prompting concern among residents in Penampang Baru, Bahang, Nosoob Baru and nearby areas.
District police chief Supt Sammy Newton, when contacted, said a statement on the case would be released later as investigations are still ongoing.
