POSSIBLE links to gang activity and drug trafficking are among the key angles under police scrutiny following the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man in a four-wheel drive vehicle at Taman Mesra Indah here on Saturday.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said on Tuesday that investigators are conducting a comprehensive probe to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack.
“Initial checks found that the victim had three previous drug-related records under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 of the same Act,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters.
Shazeli confirmed that the victim died after sustaining five close-range gunshot wounds to the body from a pistol.
He added that there is no indication, at this stage, that the murder is linked to an earlier shooting incident at a petrol station in Bukit Tinggi, Klang, on 7 November.
“At this stage, these two cases are not related. The earlier case is still under investigation and one suspect has been granted police bail,” he stated.
Police received an alert at 8.35pm on the night of the incident through the Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters Control Centre, reporting gunfire at the residential area.
The killing is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Members of the public with information are urged to assist the inquiry by contacting Senior Criminal Investigating Officer Assistant Superintendent Mohd Harman Mohd Haniff at 019-2100334 or the Klang Selatan District Police Operations Room at 03-33762222. - December 2, 2025
