Police probe thefts of mosque donation boxes

PENAMPANG: Police are investigating a series of thefts targeting mosque donation boxes across Putatan, with four incidents reported between April 15 and 27 resulting in total losses of RM3,250.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used metal cutters to break open the donation boxes before fleeing with the cash.

The first case was reported at Masjid Al Baari, Taman Ketiau, at 11pm on April 15, in which RM500 was stolen.

The third case happened at Masjid Al-Hilal, Kampung Contoh Petagas, at about 4.30am on April 24, involving RM1,500, while the fourth case happened at Masjid Al-Firdaus, Kampung Sri Pandan, at about 2.30am on April 27, involving RM250.
