POLICE are investigating a dangerous driving incident on the North–South Expressway (PLUS) near Sungai Buloh after a 22-wheel lorry was reported to have swerved suddenly and squeezed a car travelling in the middle lane.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the incident occurred at about 4.15pm yesterday at kilometre 453 of the expressway.

The victim, a 53-year-old local man who works as a factory manager, was driving a Hyundai Sonata from Petaling Jaya towards Country Homes, Rawang.

According to Mohd Hafiz, the lorry abruptly changed lanes from the right lane into the middle lane, causing it to squeeze the victim’s vehicle.

“The lorry squeezed the victim’s vehicle in the middle lane before returning to the right lane and stopping suddenly in front of another car in the right lane,” he said in a statement.

“The actions of the lorry driver caused the vehicle behind to brake suddenly, but no collision occurred.”

Mohd Hafiz said the victim’s car nevertheless sustained damage after scraping against the lorry during the incident. No injuries were reported.

He added that, as of now, the lorry driver and the driver of the other car involved have yet to lodge police reports over the matter.

“The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving,” he said.

“The incident is believed to have occurred due to inconsiderate driving by the driver involved.”

The police began investigating after a 50-second video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the lorry’s sudden lane change and abrupt stop.

Mohd Hafiz said members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Nizam Othman, at 0176254779. - December 26, 2025
