Authorities are currently investigating a disturbing incident that has gone viral, involving the assault of a young girl by multiple individuals on a staircase.

The Northeast district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong, revealed that the video footage of the incident was posted on Facebook by an account with the handle 'Whyman Whyman'. On Sunday around 10 pm, the police received a report from a 51-year-old man who claimed to be the father of the woman seen being assaulted in the video.

According to Soffian, the victim is a 24-year-old who left home in December of the previous year due to family issues. Since then, she had not returned home and had lost contact with her family. The exact location where the incident occurred is still unknown at this time. The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which deals with rioting, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which relates to the improper use of network facilities or services.

In light of the situation, the police are urging the public to refrain from further spreading the video footage in order to avoid speculation and misinformation. Furthermore, Assistant Commissioner Soffian appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.

By cooperating with the authorities, individuals who possess valuable information can play a crucial role in ensuring that justice is served and the appropriate actions are taken against those responsible for the assault. As the investigation unfolds, it is essential for the public to exercise restraint and allow the authorities to carry out their duties without hindrance.

Sharing the video or engaging in speculative discussions may impede the progress of the investigation and potentially jeopardize the well-being of the victim. Therefore, it is advised to respect the privacy and dignity of the victim during this challenging time. By working together and providing any pertinent information to the police, the community can contribute to maintaining law and order, as well as fostering a safe environment for everyone.
