NEGERI Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has lodged two police reports over his claim that he was forced to sign a proclamation concerning the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said police would classify the complaints and determine the appropriate course of investigation in accordance with established procedures.
“I can say that two police reports were made by the Menteri Besar. It is our duty, when we receive a report, to classify it in terms of the nature of the complaint and determine the direction of the investigation and the investigation papers to be opened.
“Of course, I leave it to the wisdom of the police to determine how to handle the complaint,” he told reporters after presenting an Umrah sponsorship contribution to 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) high achiever Nurul Arini Abdullah, 19, her mother and two teachers at Kampung Bukit Tembok in Port Dickson today.
Saifuddin said it was too early for him to comment further as he did not want to interfere with the police investigation.
He also urged all parties to respect due process and allow the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations.
“This country has laws, and Negeri Sembilan is unique, with customary laws and so on.
“So, when an issue arises that becomes a problem and is being discussed, what better advice can be given than to urge all parties to follow the proper legal and lawful channels?” he said.
Saifuddin added that parts of the matter had already been brought before the courts.
On Sept 9, Ismail alleged that he had been forced to sign the proclamation without his consent and under duress.
He said the state government maintained that the document did not comply with the process and procedures stipulated under Article 10 of the Constitution of the State of Negeri Sembilan 1959. - September 14, 2026
