KUALA LUMPUR: Police recorded 100 love scam cases in January, resulting in total losses of RM3.5 million.

The number of cases increased by five compared to the same period last year, though the financial loss decreased by 27% from RM4.9 million.

Director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa stated that women remained the most common victims, accounting for 60% of all cases.

Men comprised the remaining 40% of victims, with 72% of all victims aged between 30 and 50 years old.

Rusdi advised the public to remain vigilant against these syndicates.

He urged people to conduct checks using the police’s ‘Semak Mule’ portal at https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my.
