
POLICE are continuing their investigation into the tragic death of a four-year-old child who fell from the 30th floor of an apartment in Bukit Jalil, by recording statements from multiple individuals, including the child's father and several expert witnesses.
Cheras Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Ridzuan Khalid confirmed that the child’s father was scheduled to provide a statement at 9pm on Saturday, while expert and additional witness testimonies would be recorded on 10 June.
“The case is still under investigation, and the investigation paper will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor in the near future,” he said in a statement issued on Saturday.
Earlier, it was reported that police had detained the child’s mother and the mother’s younger sibling to assist with the investigation. Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan confirmed that the two women, aged 27 and 25, were remanded until Friday.
The incident occurred on Friday morning, when the child reportedly fell from a balcony at a high-rise apartment on Jalan Jalil Impian 1 at approximately 10.30am.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which pertains to child negligence or mistreatment by guardians. - June 7, 2025
