A jailed teacher faces a new investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a male teenager, following a report by the victim’s father.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have reopened an investigation into a male teacher already serving a prison sentence for sexual offences. The new probe follows an allegation he sexually assaulted a male teenager at a school in Desa Pandan.

Wangsa Maju police chief Mohamad Lazim Ismail (pic) said the latest report was filed last Tuesday by the 40-year-old father of the victim. “The 13-year-old victim found the courage to inform his family so they could make a report after learning the suspect had previously been charged and imprisoned for the physical sexual assault of another student,” he said in a statement.

He added the victim identified the suspect as a teacher at a school in Desa Pandan. The victim claimed to have been sodomised by the individual on multiple occasions.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. The suspect is currently serving an eight-year prison term with six strokes of the cane for convictions in two earlier cases.

Mohamad Lazim urged any other individuals who may have been victimised to come forward. He asked them to lodge a police report to assist the investigation further.

On Jan 5, Bernama reported the 40-year-old suspect had been sentenced by the Sessions Court. He received eight years’ imprisonment and six strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to two charges of physically assaulting an 11-year-old male student.

Judge Tasnim Abu Bakar imposed a sentence of four years and three strokes for each charge. The sentences were ordered to run consecutively from the date of his arrest on Dec 25, 2025.

The court ordered the accused to undergo counselling throughout his incarceration. He must also be placed under police supervision for two years after his release.

Meanwhile, the victim was also ordered to attend counselling. The court ruled he be placed under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department.
