Kota Kinabalu: A former Native Chief has lodged a police report against former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin asking police to determine if it was really him being allegedly involved in an illegal gambling session during the recent Chinese New Year celebrations.

Gutoyoh @ Justin bin Ubit, a Native Chief during the Warisan administration, lodged the report at the Tuaran police station on Wednesday, saying he was surfing the internet recently when he came across an article about Bung allegedly being involved in a “Pai Kau” session at a businessman’s house in Penampang.

Gutoyoh, 62, said if true, it is shocking that Bung, being a State leader, was openly involved in illegal gambling.

“I am unhappy that ordinary citizens are arrested for being involved in illegal gambling but not leaders of political parties,” he said. Gutoyoh said, Bung as a leader, should be taking care of the rakyat and not be involved in illegal activities.

He also wanted Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (Muis) to investigate, adding that Bung, as a Muslim, is forbidden to gamble, whether legal or illegal.

Gutoyoh also submitted the printout of the online news to assist police in their investigations.

According to the online report, with pictures and videos, a group of people can be seen indulging in “Pai Kau” holding gambling chips in RM10,000 and RM50,000 denominations.
