Police rescue hostage victims in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday reported the rescue of two hostage victims, one of them a minor, in Caloocan City.

According to a police report, the 911 hotline received a distress call Friday evening regarding a hostage-taking incident. Personnel from Sub-Station 14 (SS14) of the Caloocan City Police Station arrived at the scene at 7:43 p.m. and immediately secured the area. Based on police reports, a man armed with a bladed weapon forcibly entered the house of the victims and took the occupants hostage, demanding information regarding a family member.

The adult victim was wounded while the young victim was able to escape and seek assistance. Law enforcement personnel rescued the victim and arrested the man.

Acting PNP chief commended the quick response of the officers, highlighting the importance of the Unified 911 during emergencies.
