AUTHORITIES requested Interpol’s assistance in tracking down the main suspect in a high-profile murder case involving the shooting and stabbing of a police officer, followed by the grim discovery of a woman’s body in a car driven by the suspect.
The suspect is believed to have fled the country, according to Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.
“Police investigations have confirmed that the primary suspect in this case has escaped abroad,” he said. “The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has officially sought Interpol’s help to locate and arrest the suspect as soon as possible.”
The victim, a woman, is understood to have been related to the suspect.
Datuk Noor Hisam also stated that investigators have not ruled out the involvement of other individuals in the case.
“We are looking into the possibility that others may have been involved in this incident, beyond the main suspect who is now on the run,” he added.
The case, which shocked the nation, unfolded on 7 September when a police officer was seriously injured after being shot and stabbed during a confrontation with a man in Simpang Pulai, Ipoh. Shortly thereafter, the man was found driving a vehicle containing the body of a deceased woman.
Nine individuals, including one woman, were initially remanded for questioning in connection with the case but have since been released on police bail.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 302 (murder) and Section 307 (attempted murder) of the Penal Code, as well as Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
Authorities continue to urge the public to come forward with any information that may assist in locating the suspect or clarifying the events leading to the violent incident. - September 14, 2025
