POLICE are appealing for public assistance to locate the next of kin of a man who was found dead in a drain near the SILK Highway in Sungai Ramal yesterday afternoon.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said officers were alerted to the discovery at about 2.22 p.m. following a call from a member of the public.
A police team from the Kajang District Headquarters and the Selangor Police Contingent’s Forensic Unit was dispatched to the scene.
“Preliminary checks found the body of an unidentified man wearing a blue shirt and shorts, without footwear,” Naazron said.
He added that no weapons or personal belongings were found nearby.
“CCTV footage from the area showed that on 19 October at about 6.03 p.m., an individual was recorded walking along the highway and climbing over an iron barrier before falling into the drain,” he said.
A post-mortem examination conducted at Kajang Hospital at 11.30 a.m. today determined that the cause of death was injuries sustained from a fall from height.
Police said the deceased has yet to be identified but was found with a tattoo of a compass with an arrow and the word ‘JOSEPH’ on his left arm.
Naazron said the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR).
He urged anyone with information or who may be missing a family member fitting the description to contact the nearest police station or reach out to the investigating officer, Sergeant Borhan Mohamad, at 014-328 9730. - October 25, 2025
