Police are investigating a suitcase left at Bukit Kayu Hitam ICQS after scans suggested explosives and drugs, but only personal items were found.

ALOR SETAR: Police have opened an investigation paper to identify the owner and determine why a suitcase was left at the inspection area of the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS), after a scan detected images resembling explosives and drugs.

Kedah Police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said preliminary investigations found that the spot where the suitcase was left was outside CCTV coverage, making it difficult for police to identify the individual who left it there.

“Police are currently investigating to identify the owner of the suitcase as well as the reason it was left at the location,” he told reporters here today.

Yesterday, police had carried out a process to neutralise a pink suitcase left at the inspection area of the Bukit Kayu Hitam ICQS.

The suitcase was then taken to a scanning machine, and the scan showed images indicating the presence of suspected drugs and explosive materials.

The Bomb Disposal Unit of the Kedah Police Contingent headquarters, which carried out the process to neutralise the suitcase, found no explosive materials and only discovered clothes, oil in a container, a black hairdryer, shampoo and lotion.
