KOTA KINABALU: Police foiled one of Sabah’s biggest drug trafficking attempts this month, seizing 46.4 kilogrammes of syabu worth RM1.484 million in Semporna following a tip-off.
State Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said officers intercepted a vehicle along Jalan Kampung Air on Oct 19, where they found four boxes containing 45 packets of the drug.
The foreign driver, who lacked valid identification and lived on Pulau Pababag, was arrested and remanded until Oct 26 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
A second suspect was later detained on Pulau Denawan after investigations revealed the drugs had been transported from Kota Kinabalu to Semporna.
Jauteh said the operation was among several recent successes, including the seizure of syabu and cannabis in Kota Kinabalu, made possible through close cooperation between the public and police.
