A POLICE station chief who tested positive for drugs after being detained during a raid at a nightclub in Pandan Perdana, Ampang Jaya, last Friday will face disciplinary action, Kuala Lumpur police confirmed on Monday.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the officer, who was attached to a district police station under the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), has been transferred to the operations room at IPK Penang.
“We do not compromise on any form of criminal misconduct involving anyone in this country, including members of the police force regardless of their rank,” Rusdi said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.
The officer was among 17 individuals arrested during the raid by Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN).
“Initial urine screening showed the officer tested positive for drugs. Firm action will be taken. Disciplinary action will follow, as drug use and a positive test are already criminal offences,” he added.
Rusdi stressed that investigations would be conducted thoroughly and reminded all police personnel that they are prohibited from entering entertainment outlets unless on duty.
“Police officers are not allowed to be in entertainment centres unless they are there for official duties. Even then, they must have prior approval from their superiors,” he said.
On Sunday, it was reported that the 43-year-old officer had been caught consuming suspected drug-laced juice while partying at the nightclub. Tests later confirmed the presence of four types of illicit substances in his system. - April 21, 2025
