KUALA LUMPUR – Police stations in remote areas have been ordered to close their gates by 9pm, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

This is part of efforts to beef up security after the deadly attack on the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor Bahru.

He added that members of the public who need help can show their identification cards to the police officers stationed at the gate.

“We will also install CCTVs and fix the parameter lighting installed at remote stations.

“Usually such stations only have two officers on duty at any one time,” he said in a press conference at Menara KPJ here today.

He added that the officers have been ordered to be more aware of the surroundings of police stations.

“Higher sense of awareness plays a role in ensuring the safety of our officers.” – May 24, 2024
