THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it will intensify police presence in tourist spots, convergence zones, places of worship and roads in anticipation of the influx of travelers and vacationers during Holy Week and the summer season.

Close to 60,000 officers have been mobilized nationwide as part of Ligtas Sumvac (Summer Vacation) 2026, a security operation from March 29 to May 31.

Captain Amie Centro-Tiu, chief of PNP’s Tourist Security and Protection Section, told reporters that 39,340 of the deployments were PNP personnel, 5,185 were augmentation forces from various uniformed personnel, and 14,691 were from advocacy groups.

Tiu said 3,277 tourist hotspots in the country will be secured by the PNP through foot patrols and the establishment of assistance desks.

In Metro Manila alone, the National Capital Region Police Office will deploy 12,370 officers in areas of concern, transport hubs and major streets.

“The proactive presence is intended to create a safe and secure environment for local and foreign tourists during the Holy Week,” she said.

The most prevalent crime, particularly during the Holy Week, is reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property common among partygoers and drinking individuals, Tiu said.
