Recently, an event that saw attendees waving China’s flags went viral and caused plenty of controversy and debate on the issue.

In response to the event, it has been reported that about 400 people from several non-governmental organisations, from PAS and residents, had gathered in front of the leaning tower of Teluk Intan, and waved Jalur Gemilangs.

According to reports, the incident occurred as Perak PAS commissioner was delivering a speech. Perak police chief Datuk Comm Azizi Mat Aris said the gathering took place on Saturday (Oct 26) around 6 pm.

He said the police officer stationed at the tower area had informed his superiors of the gathering held without a permit.

“The gathering was held to fly the Jalur Gemilang, to sing patriotic songs, while the state’s PAS commissioner was delivering a speech.”

“The police were not informed about the gathering, and due to that the case will be investigated under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012,” he said in a statement issued today (Oct 27).
