Melaka police prepare 3,150 personnel for the upcoming state election, including 1,500 reinforcements, with social media monitoring planned
MELAKA: Melaka police have identified 3,150 personnel for deployment during the upcoming state election, including 1,500 reinforcements from outside the state.
Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said preparations began three months ago and included simulations and training. The police are also drawing on the experiences of other states that have conducted elections.
He said the state police will work with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to monitor social media throughout the election period and reminded the public not to spread false or defamatory content, particularly the 3R issues (involving religion, race and royalty).
He said this when met by reporters after a gathering for police retirees with Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh at Seri Bendahara, Ayer Keroh, last night.
In another development, Dzulkhairi said the proposal to establish the Hang Tuah Jaya District Police Headquarters was submitted to Bukit Aman last year and is being reviewed by its Research and Development division.
The proposed headquarters is intended to address population growth and density in the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council area, which covers parts of the Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin districts.
