PETALING JAYA: The police are producing a photofit of the suspect who splashed acid on national footballer Faisal Halim last week.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the process will begin today with the help of witnesses and CCTV footage from the May 5 attack at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara, which left the Selangor FC winger in a critical condition.
Razarudin also said that more than 12 people have had their statements recorded in connection with the case, Berita Harian reported.
Apart from Faisal, he said, the police have recorded statements from the 25-year-old’s doctors, family members, and security guards at the scene of the attack.

“We can’t just arrest anybody, we need evidence. Even though it might take a while, we will keep investigating this case.”
Police have arrested two suspects believed to have been involved in the acid attack.
Faisal, who suffered fourth-degree burns, underwent a third surgery on Thursday afternoon.
Selangor Football Club board member Shahril Mokhtar told Bernama yesterday Faisal can now walk in his hospital room and is keen to return home.
Shahril said Faisal had reacted positively to the three-hour skin graft procedure and would undergo a follow-up surgery later.
He said Faisal is likely to be transferred from the intensive care unit to the high-dependency unit in about a week if given the green light by the doctors.
