POLICE are attempting to identify a man seen damaging the side mirror of a parked vehicle in Cheras after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.

Cheras district police chief Mohd Rosdi Daud said officers received a police report at about 8.40pm on Tuesday regarding a video showing an individual snapping off a car’s side mirror.

The footage was uploaded on TikTok by the account @cyberjayaviral and quickly attracted attention online.

Mohd Rosdi said the incident occurred in the Cheras area and the case has been classified under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief causing damage, Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“The case is still under investigation to track down the suspect and the car owner, as well as to identify the TikTok account holder through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to assist with the investigation,” he said in a statement.

Police are working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to identify the TikTok account holder in order to assist the investigation.
