KOTA KINABALU: A police report has been filed over the existence of a student group known as Circle 19 at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha, which counsel Datuk Ram Singh believes may be linked to the case of Zara Qairina Mahathir.
Ram lodged the report at the Luyang police station on Monday after discipline unit teacher and 54th deponent, Nurul Syahadah Ibrahim, told the inquest she was unsure whether she needed to report the group’s activities.
Nurul repeatedly responded that she was “not sure” when Ram pressed her on whether the group should be disbanded, whether its members should be arrested, and whether the discipline unit had taken any firm action.
Ram, who argued that the group might be connected to bullying or Zara’s incident, urged police to investigate and called on the school to abolish Circle 19.
Nurul testified that she understood Circle 19 to be a clique of close friends with similar routines, acknowledged their use of coarse language, and said she only learned of the group’s existence in August.
