The police have refuted claims of sluggishness in their investigation into the murder of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, a child with autism, dismissing allegations made by certain quarters.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan rebuffed criticisms, asserting that law enforcement agencies had worked tirelessly since Zayn Rayyan was reported missing until the discovery of his body. He emphasized that all stakeholders could assess the concerted efforts exerted throughout the investigative process.
"From the outset, there has been unwavering commitment; the police have spared no effort. We have maintained transparency regarding the progress of the investigation and urged individuals with pertinent information to step forward," he stated during a press briefing at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters.
Hussein Omar Khan elucidated that the police had explored multiple avenues, encompassing technical analyses, to identify the perpetrator responsible for the tragic demise of Ismanira Abdul Manaf and Zaim Ikhwan's eldest child.
These measures involved scrutinizing internet protocol addresses traced at the scene where the body was discovered, in addition to dispatching fingerprints and DNA samples to Interpol. However, conclusive evidence implicating the suspects in the murder remains elusive.
The lifeless body of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan was recovered from a stream near his residence at Apartment Idaman in Damansara Damai, in close proximity, on December 6, one day after his disappearance was reported.
A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed signs of foul play, indicating that he had been subjected to fatal injuries to his neck and body, likely sustained while attempting to defend himself.
Despite exhaustive endeavors to apprehend the perpetrator, law enforcement authorities have yet to identify any suspects.
The investigation into Zayn Rayyan's tragic demise underscores the imperative of diligent and thorough police work in unraveling criminal cases and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
